First, stay back in ashram to serve in our best capacity the visitors by assisting in the daily activities of Ashram or to travel across India to spread yoga and its awareness through Swami Satyanand teachings. We chose the latter path as we believed spreading Swamiij’s teachings outside would enrich us from inside. We had a emotional farewell and were deeply touched when Swami Satsangi mentioned that the gates of Ashram are always open for you and said ‘Ashram is no less than a “Maica” for you’. She is really a true mother.
Keeping the faith and teachings of my guru, I started my journey with former wife Swami Mantrataraji in the wilderness of this chaotic world. In fact, we even didn’t know from where to start ? I had no constituency where people would listen, support or invite us. It was the time to repay the debt of my guru but how ? was the question pondered over our minds. However, one holy place leads to another as they say so after Patna, we went straight to shirdi to seek blessings of Saibaba. We stayed in Shirdi for three days in search of a new place to camp for a longer time. Our search ended with village Pimpalgaon (3 kms away from shirdi) where we lodged ourselves in the Shiva temple.
We took this opportunity to teach Yoga to the students and common folk fore of villages by visiting at their doorsteps. It was difficult at first as the villagers were reluctant to new knowledge, however within days they warmed up to us and began enjoying the interaction by showing enthusiasm in learning Yoga. Soon, we covered surrounding villages like Jalgaon, Punatamba and many more during our two month long stay. This was a very rewarding experience for us as we learned the simple and aesthetic lifestyle of villagers along with the hardships they face with a smile.
It is worth mentioning that my endurance to the hardships initially were inspired by Swami Stayananda Saraswati’s life who took to the forests of India in search of truth leaving behind the comfort of his zamindari house in Uttarakhand. His journey of life continues to inspire me till now. Trimbakeshwar was our next destination followed by Omkareshwar and Shegaon of Gajanan Maharaj where we camped for next few weeks. We continued our journey spreading the teachings of our beloved dadaguru and this is how our Sannyasa life started !
Next year, we recharged ourselves by visiting the Munger and Rikhia Ashram. Swami Stsangi and Swami Niranjananandji felt very happy to see us back. Although present at different locations, Swami satsangi at Raikhia and Swami niranjananandji at Munger, both gave the same ‘vachan’ to us saying “This is what one Sannyasi is expected to do,” as if they were using telepathy to communicate. I am still surprised how “they knew what we knew”. However, it was a very proud moment for us. Swamiji further asked if I need any assistance from Ashram for our work but I said, Swamiji your blessings are enough for us upon which reacted with his “universal” smile and asked one of his senior Swami Kewallyanandji to give us Ashram’s spiritual books to distribute among our participants.
It was a great moment for us as I knew it was him who guided us from the start and stood behind us in this enriching journey. The distribution of books continues till now, thanks to Swamiji.
My dear readers, there are many more beautiful stories to tell you from our sannyasa journey but this may be not the right place. We came across so many good people during our journey who encouraged and helped us to make our mission a little easier than it was a day before. We have our deepest gratitude towards them and thank them from our hearts.
It is the showering love and faith of my sadhaka which made this possible and without whom this journey would have been a mere physical but not spiritual. I am really grateful to them for listening to me carefully though all my yoga shivirs and it gives me great pleasure when I understand that some of them are very keen on following the teachings of Swami Satyananda.
And List is Unending ...
I would like to mention that content and thoughts described here and in my programmes are not only mine but from my Gurus who taught me on different occasions. I have also studied and taken references from the old testaments and referred few ideas from the great thinkers and philosophers of our time. It is not my teaching, I am just re-echoing what these great people have said. The sole purpose of my journey is to serve the humanity in whatever capacity bestowed to me by my Guruji.
I urge you to participate in my mission and make my journey memorable.
